Artist Statement

Finally at Peace. This charcoal artwork serenely portrays an ambiguous woman lying peacefully on the sandy shores of a beach. I created this drawing to be an encapsuation of what i believe true peace looks like. A state of being content with oneself and ones’ surroundings. A state of not carrying the heavy burdens of what has been done and what has yet to be. A complete surrender of the mind, body and soul into full relaxation. In this moment the true intent of existence seems so clear, so simple and I so wish that it felt that way always. I look forward for a time where I can finally set all my worries at bay— while alive— and simply be. Then and only then will I be finally at peace.
