Silent Young. This vivid and expressive oil portrait marks the beginning of a series I am creating to explore different facets of my human identity. One aspect of humanity I find so interesting is that while we may seem simple on the surface level— there truly is a complex myriad of personalities that lies within the very essence of our being. We are like a prism. The seemingly monotonous white light of our personalities is truly a composition of every unique color imaginable. This painting is a portrayal of one of my unique colors which is the color of silence. There is a part of me that wants to remain silent and observe the world more than contribute to it. This has been a part of my nature since childhood (hence why the painting depicts a silent black child).
