Artist Statement

Values. This acrylic painting depicts the musical icon, Stevie Wonder, in the midst of his artistry while wearing luxurious garments. What is immediately apparent from a technical side is the unapologetic usage of intense dark tones, vibrant mid tones and bright highlights to fully bring Stevie to life. However, the piece's title holds a deeper meaning. Does Stevie value the pure expression of his talent or does he instead value more the lavish luxuries his talents allow him to obtain. This question should be at the front of every creator's mind or else fate will decide the answer for you.
